| This is a truly rare & wonderful piece. It is an early dip pen-pencil sliding combination. The holder measures 103mm long (4 1/16 inches) long closed. Fully open with the nib out it measures long. The fluted body is hand chased. It is marked “M. T. & CO. 18” and “MABIES PATENT OCT 3 1854”. It is also engraved on a small panel “Souvenir”. The nib is a large Mabie Todd & Co. New York #5 size.
