This wonderful wood, double sided, "Depot for Waterman's Ideal Fountain Pens" sign is in "as found" condition. Mr. L. E. Waterman of New York set up the Waterman Ideal Pen Company and began selling fountain pens in the 1880's. As sales grew, it became the L. E. Waterman Pen Company in 1888, and for the next two decades, Waterman became the dominant pen company in the United States and the world. This sign would have been hung from the ceiling of a pen shop. The sign has retained a lot of its' gold lettering and pen illustration, however, there some losses in places, but the colours are still s
eBay Vintage Paul Wirt Oversize Fountain Pen - #8 Size Gold Nib Up for sale today is a pretty old and relatively rare pen! Paul E. Wirt Fountain Pen Company was one of the earliest manufacturers of fountain pens in the US, and one of the largest at the time. They started making pens in the 1880's, although this is a "later" pen probably from between 1903 (date of patent on the barrel) and the early 1910 s Features: I believe this is the largest pen they made. It measures a little over 5 1/2 inches capped and has a #8 size gold nib, the largest they made (at least I have not seen a #10 nib from them). Oversize pens from this period like this one are much rarer than the standard sizes.- Beautiful mottled red hard rubber body, these is my favorite pen material from the time.- Easy to use and maintain eyedropper filler - no moving parts.- Very old pen! Likely from the first decade of the 20th century Condition Notes:- Biggest issue with this pen is the nib. It is in structurally very good shape with some superficial scratches but has no tipping. Please note this will not be very usable unless it is retipped, it will be very scratchy. Signature "vented" Wirt feed is in good condition.- Other than the nib, the pen is in fantastic condition considering its age - there are some scratches, most notably a scratch on the cap that looks almost like an indentation but otherwise there are no cracks or hairline fractures. The cap lip is in great shape.- The hard rubber has a fair amount of oxidation but will polish up nicely.Despite the nib issues, this is a fairly rare pen from one of the highest quality pen manufacturers of the time and is priced accordingly. I am open to offers but lowball offers will not be considered. Please note that this pen has not been "restored." I did a very gentle cleaning with a soft dry cloth to get the dirt off but I wanted to leave it in as close to original condition as possible. As this is more of a "collector item," it is sold as-is so please make sure to carefully inspect all provided pictures. I can provide more pictures if needed, just let me know. Pen will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail fully insured for the final sale amount. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
The last photo represents the amount of dip pens I've purchased, all the money and time in pursuit of the ones with the qualities this pen possesses

This is a rare and unusual Paul Wirt fountain pen with a wide gold cap band, gold ball clip and filling lever. It was an impulse purchase about 20 years ago. I knew nothing about Wirt. I used the pen for a while then put it into storage and only recently did some research into the company. I was surprised to learn that Wirt was once one of the most successful and innovative pen manufacturers in the US. It was founded in Pennsylvania in the 1880's and grew quickly to be bigger and more significant than Parker or Sheaffer. However, Wirt didn't move with the times. He continued to use overfeeds f
eBay This is a large Paul E Wirt eyedropper fill fountain pen that was made in the USA around 1903.The pen is hexagon shaped and is black hard rubber. It measures 5 1/4" long and the barrel diameter is 10.5mm [measured corner to corner].It has a Wirt 14K nib which does not have a number, but appears to be a #3.The nib has a fine/medium tip and is a semi-flex.The pen is in excellent condition with no cracks and only some minor oxidation. The imprint is a little weak but entirely readable. I filled the pen up and it is a good writer, very smooth and lays down a nice line. This is a beautiful pen in great condition. The Hexagon came in two sizes, this is the larger size. The one photo shows the pen with the catalogue illustration from 1903. Wirt made this pen from the 1880s up and the 1903 catalog shows it as an underfeed, even though it was originally an overfeed.I believe they dropped the overfeed around 1900.It will be shipped in a box. eBay VINTAGE & RAREE.S. Johnson & Co.Dipping Fountain Pen & Mechanical Pencil I have been collecting pens, pen accessories, coins and limited edition bronzes for nearly 30 years and I have decided to downsize my collections and sell off nearly everything I have collected over the years. Please check out my eBay store The Next Phase for all of my current collection listings up for sale on eBay. For sale is a Vintage and very RARE Victorian dipping fountain pen and mechanical pencil from my personal collection: A Victorian Mid to Late 1800’s E.S. Johnson Dip Fountain Pen (with a 14K gold nib) and Mechanical Pencil. RARE & in EXCELLENT CONDITION Stunning for its Age & Rarity!!! This is a ** RARE ** and mid to late Victorian period (ca. 1850-1880’s) E.S. Johnson & Co. Mechanical Pencil and dip Fountain Pen. It is in Excellent Condition, especially considering its age and rarity! It is gold plated and appears to have a 14K gold nib. This pen is a masterpiece of Victorian engineering. The pen has two rings. The lower ring slides down and extends a manual dip fountain pen nib. The nib is clearly engraved “E.S. Johnson & Co.” and “Warranted” and something else below that I can’t make out. Additionally, the back (inside) of the nib is hand engraved with what appears to be the initials of “Ygx” (which I assume the original owner or jeweler for the pen engraved for the owner). The upper ring (if the lower ring for the fountain pen is retracted) extends the mechanical pencil. I don’t know you would insert the lead into the mechanical pencil, unless you did it manually from the very tip? This E.S Johnson & Co. Dip Pen and Mechanical Pencil is a Gem! Beautiful!!! Rare, Own a Piece of Victorian History in the Palm of your Hand! Additionally, the top of the pen has a beautiful crystal or cut piece of glass, which is in perfect condition. The pen measures 4 ½” when fully retracted and when the dip fountain pen nib has been extended it measures 5 ½” and when the mechanical pencil is extended it measures 5 ¼”.
